About

I have always been a fan of the classic film songs of yesteryears. While my generation was growing up on Kali Kali Ankhen and grooving to Ek pal ka jeena , I was watching classic films and listening to the golden oldies. This blog is a humble attempt at compiling a few of the classic film songs. As a Bengali, I plan to feature classic film songs from both the Bengali and Hindi film industry.

As an aside to the inspiration for several of contemporary Indian film music, you may like to visit Inspired Indian Film Songs. My apologies if you are a fan of these ‘inspired’ artistes.

You have selected some truly great, melodic, lilting numbers from old film songs to post on your blog. Admire your effort, appreciate and share your tastes. Came here through google, was looking for Jiya Lage Na. Thank You and God Bless!

You are indeed a misfit mate, for this generation typified by upstart musicians and banal tunes. I am also of your generation and thanks to my dad and uncle, I grew up admiring people like Balraj Sahni, Guru Dutt, Kaifi Azmi, Rafi, Lata, talat, s.d.burman, madan mohan and the list goes on. I am relieved today seeing that there are souls who are sensitive and receptive to the music and films of 50’s and 60’s. Kudos mate.
