Na Jiya Lage Na – Anand (1970)

If Madhumati introduced the genius of Salil Chowdhury to Hindi film-goers, then the soundtrack of Anand(1970) – the Hrishikesh Mukherjee film, cemented his reputation as a music composer who created classic songs, even while continuing his experimentation with the use of western orchestra in Indian music.

This is again a tune, used in both Bengali and Hindi songs. The Bengali song “Na Mono Lage Na” was again rendered by Lata Mangeshkar as in this film -picturized on Sumita Sanyal.

Lyrics:

Naa jiyaa laage naa
Tere binaa meraa kahin jiyaa laage naa

Jeena bhuule the kahaan yaad nahin
Tujhko paya hai jahaan, saans phir aayi wahin
Zindagi tere sivaa haay bhaaye naa

Piya teri baavri se raha jaaye na

Tum agar jaao kabhi jaao kahin
Waqt se kehna zara woh thaher jaaye wahin
Woh ghadi wahin rahe naa jaaye na

The bengali song (also sung by Lata Mangeshkar) is here:
      Na Mono Lage Na

      The lyris are below:

      Na mono lage na
      Ey jibone kichhu jano
      bhalo lage na
      Na mono lage na

Ey nodir dui kinare dui toroni
Jotoi na baai nongor bandha kachhe jete tai parini
      Tumio
      Tumio opar theke haay shoroni
      Na mono lage na

Chokhe chokhe cheye kanda bhalo lage na

Ami je shranto aji shokti udhao
Ki hobe ar nichhi michhi beye beye ei michhe nao
Tumio opar theke jao chole jao
      Na mono lage na
