Chandan Sa Badan – Saraswati Chandra (1968)

The first Hindi film to win the National award for Best Music, Saraswati Chandra, was scored by the brother duo of Kalyanji-Anandji. Here is the classic – Chandan Sa Badan, rendered by Mukesh, from this magnum opus. Incidentally, this song was also rendered by Lata Mangeshkar as can be found here.

Lyrics: Indeevar

Chandan sa badan chanchal chitawan
Dheere se tera ye muskana
Mujhe dosh na dena jagwalon
Ho jaoon agar main deewana

Ye kaam kaman bhawe teri
Palko ke kinare kajarare
Maathepar sindoori suraj
Honthhon pe dahakte angaarein
Saaya bhi jo tera padh jaye
Aabaad ho dil ka viraana

Tan bhi sundar, mann bhi sundar
Tu sundarta ki murat hai
Kisee aur ko shayad kam hogi
Mujhe teri bahot zarurat hai
Pahale bhi bahot main tarsa hoon
Tu aur na dil ko tarsana
